General Hospital fans are in shock over the news that actress Kelly Monaco got fired from the show.

It has been reported that the soap opera star, who is best known for her role as Sam McCall, is leaving after spending

more than two decades on the show. It is being reported that her character is going to be killed off.

When Carolyn Hinsey, of Soap Opera Digest, suggested that Kelly lost her job simply because she was calling off too much, the internet went off.

Carolyn wrote on her X account, “Not surprising considering how much work Kelly has missed in the last few years and how much money #GH spent on emergency recasting. I hope she’s okay.”

That’s when a lot of her fans and followers sure did have a lot to say about the matter.

Some even commented with, “What are you talking about… you’re saying she can’t have problems that pops up in her real life… and therefore needs time off… she is a human being.”

Another critic wrote, “Well, I must agree with Carolyn on this statement. Kelly has missed work several times but I am a little surprised that they are killing her character.”

“When you look at the entire picture, another character has missed a lot of work , Kirsten Storms but she’s had a lot of medical issues. I want to give kudos on her weight loss! You’re looking good! Keep it going!! Good luck Kelly!”

And then there was this comment as well: “She had legitimate reasons for those absences (deaths of friends, sick with covid, house burnt down, etc) and has given 21 years of her life to the character and the show.”

General Hospital News: What’s Next For Kelly Monaco?

“So it is surprising, given the circumstances. In any other job they’d have a wrongful termination lawsuit.”

So far Kelly Monaco herself has not made any comments about the matter just yet.
